"Soft winds at sunrise; a shoreline with sailboats, waterfalls, and waves; steep cliffs add adventure; a tidal design, the Napali way. A floral path colors, while aquatics thrive; the most magical hike of my life, with my love, all the time." -b. wood |
Darth Vadar was on the ski hill today.
It was not enough to just look over the steep edge of the top of a mountain, sitting in ten degree weather, my vision fighting against flat light, feeling the gusts of wind as other ski enthusiasts fly by inches away from my carve, but we boarded past Darth Vadar too (mask, heavy breathing, dark clothes, stiff yet swift movements, helmet and all). There is so much action on the ski hill. There are ski patrols, young kids speeding in the powder, ski cats, people zigging and zagging down the moguls, chairlifts, laughter, shouting, people going off jumps and occasionally landing on their feet, the snow is flying…and I sit observing it all. Although I am frightened to my very core I respond to that constant encouragement from my fiance to keep going, and to overcome my fears of heights, falling, getting hurt, and going too fast. I hold my breath and try carving again. It’s like I’m battling Darth Vadar.
That might be melodramatic, but that was my snow day.
